Pratap Chandra Sarangi is an Indian politician and social worker and current Minister of State in the Government of India and a Social worker from Balasore, Odisha. He is widely notable for leading a normal personal life. Sarangi is also known as the Modi of Odisha. The talented politician elected as Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly for two times. He is the ever poorest minister in the history of India and subcontinent.

Moreover, in 2014, he participated in the Indian general election from Balasore as a BJP candidate, unfortunately, he lost in this election. Again, in 2019, Sarangi contests for the same post from the same region and won the election defeated the Biju Janata Dal Candidate by a margin of 12,956 votes.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi Early Life:
Pratap Sarangi was born on January 4, 1955, in Gopinathpur, Nilagir, Balasore, India. He was a spiritual seeker from early childhood. In 1975, Sarangi recieved a bachelor’s degree from Fakir Mohan College under Utkal University.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi Career:
After completing education, he went to the Ramakrishna Math to turn himself into a monk. He made several visits tot he headquarters of Belur Math. The monks discussed with Sarangi about his desire and analyzed his biodata the Math’s leader came to know that his mother still alive and they advised him to go back and serve her mother.

He comes to the village and involved himself in various social activities. In 2004, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi likes him very much because he also wanted to be a monk.

Controversy:
Pratap Chandra Sarangi was the chief Bajrang Dal in 1999 when the party’s some workers killed burned alive an Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two children. They were brutally murdered in such a way that alleged Graham Staines forced Hindus to convert.

The main accused of this case Dara Sing and his assistant Mahindra Hembram have been given life imprisonment. But Sarangi has never been questioned in this case. There are more than ten criminal cases against Sarangi.

Personal Life:
In personal life, Pratap never married as he wanted to be a monk. He has no property and leads a very normal life. Sarangi only belongs to a broken bicycle. Moreover, he lives in a mud house.
